Ready to race: Red Bull series takes off

Virginia Aviation Ambassador Program suspended

The Virginia Aviation Ambassador Program, which rewarded pilots for flying to the state's 66 public use airports, has been temporarily suspended due to low aviation revenue collections, according to officials with the Virginia Department of Aviation. Formed in 2005, the program has attracted 137 participants, who won prizes such as pins and flight jackets according to how many airports they visited. State officials encourage pilots to continue flying to the state's airports, where they can collects stamps in a special Aviation Passport. When funds become available, the agency hopes to resume providing awards to those who complete the program, officials said.

35th Anniversary celebration announced for The Beechcraft Heritage Museum

The Beechcraft Heritage Museum in Tullahoma, Tenn., is planning a 35th anniversary celebration during its annual convention, slated for Oct. 15-19. The event, which is being held in conjunction with the T-34 Owners Association, is expected to bring together an estimated 100 examples of vintage and modern Beechcraft models, with as many as 80 additional restored T-34 Mentor aircraft.

The Texas Fly-In Scholarship is looking for a few good pilots. Organizers of the former Texas Fly-In launched the scholarship program to help young people pursue education in aviation. READER RECOMMENDATION FOR ROUGH-RUNNING ENGINE

To Paul McBride: I just received my copy of GANews and, as usual, your column was one of the first for me to read (What to do about a "slightly" rough running engine, Jan. 25 issue). I think Joe Casey has a carburetor venturi problem. There was an AD on some O-320s and his may be one of them. I strongly recommend he has it checked before his next flight. The symptoms he described are sure the way an O-320 acts when it has this problem.

The AeroTherm Deuce uses two 800-watt electric heating elements to heat all parts of an engine. The pre-heater supplies 20,000 BTUs of heat at 210º to the engine compartment.
